SAY NO TO SUGAR
Starting this morning I am challenging myself to a 6tsp or less sugar a day. I have been reading and listening to my mom about how bad sugar really is for you. Its unbelievable! I am going to try and consume as much natural sugar that is in fruits and vegetables that I can. This is going to be hard for me because I am a crazy person when it come to chocolate. BUT! I am going to try to create or find different recipes that can help with my sweet tooth.
There are way to many different kinds of sugar and here are just a few fructose, galactose, glucose, lactose, maltose, sucrose, ect. The natural occurring sugars are fructose, glucose, and lactose. These are the sugars you find in your fruits, vegetables, and dairy. But, if fructose, glucose, and lactose are labeled as an ingredient then yes it is added and so no it is not natural. Although there are some sugars that are worse then others its still good to be conscious about what you are consuming.
Think about it. When I wake up I want coffee and of course I want that vanilla creamer or should I say vanilla sugar. Then, for breakfast a healthy choice of cereal thats loaded with sugar even if its the "healthier" kind. Now, lunch I'll have a salad but my weakness is french dressing which is also loaded with sugar. So, now by snack time I have probably had my 6tsp (according to the America Heart Association) of sugar that I am suppose to have.
BUT! What if I start putting spices in my coffee to add flavor and a little bit of almond milk or even cashew milk. Maybe, I should make my own granola cereal and add unsweetened almond milk that only has natural sugar. YUM! Even better, by lunch time I should make my own salad dressing with fruits and vegetables because those are natural sugars.(Check out say no to package page for dressing) Now, for dinner I am still under my 6tsp of sugar for the day and my body is loving me.
So, for the next week I will be blogging and posting new recipes along with how I am doing with the 6tsp or less of sugar a day. Challenge yourself with me, comment, and ask questions.
